Leuser Ecosystem,
A rainforest in Aceh

“The most valuable commodity the tropical forests have to offer at this late date in the destruction of our planet’s natural heritage, is knowledge.  To acquire that knowledge has become a matter of urgency before it is too late. That knowledge concerns man’s origins and his possible future”

With the cooperation of international experts in zoology, botany, geology, ecology and those that study the tropical forests cameras will be placed all over the Leuser eco-system.

Each camera will be carefully placed to highlight a selected natural feature of the forest, flora, fauna or phenomenon.

The cameras will be networked and linked by wireless to a central console which in turn is linked to a Vsat satellite transponder dish.

A/V data is then relayed by satellite worldwide from multiple cameras in real time.

This will constitute the exclusive material for an entire satellite TV channel

In this way the Leuser eco system will become an interactive, satellite television channel able to be accessed so to speak from the inside by subscribers to the channel throughout the world.

The Leuser channel will provide an internationally available teaching resource for classes of all levels of natural history. University funded specialized research projects might also deploy its own dedicated cameras or groups of cameras.

The channel will be accessed through a specially dedicated surfing hardware tool available to subscribers with which a subscriber may surf between any number of cameras placed in the forest.

The network of cameras will thus also serve as an international surveillance tool, whereby the security of the forest and its ecosystem will be monitored by subscribers around the world.

This project effectively comprises a marketing method for the most valuable commodity from the tropical rain forest, knowledge, and thereby help to make the forest economically worth more as a living resource than it would be cut down.
