Here’s an investment opportunity of the most down to earth and islamic kind.  Invest in a teak tree for yourself and/or your children.

This is how it works.


  1. 1.You buy a teak tree for £100 through Upriver Projects.

  2. 2.We will plant a teak sapling in your name in our village, Gunung Mas teak grove.

  3. 3.You will receive a contract and certificate of ownership of that tree. This bond will be certified by the Local Aceh Government Authority.

  4. 4.You will keep your certificate for a minimum of 25 years, after which you or your executive may decide to cut your tree for sale on the sustainable hardwood market. 

  5. 5.The value of that tree will be in excess of £3,000 by that time.

  6. 6.If you like you may bequeath the certificate to your children. It will make a beautiful, halal and profitable heirloom.

  7. 7.In the meantime we will look after your tree on your behalf to make sure it grows to become a healthy and valuable (halal) asset.

  8. 8.We would love to welcome you to West Aceh and Gunung Mas, when you can visit your tree.
